Forum Title: Main water pipe can freeze?
I have closed the house for the winter. I have drained the pipes and water heater etc. I am worried about the main water pipe coming from the city is about 3-4 feet to the cut off valve in the basement. Normally there is not much heat is in the basement and the pipe looks pretty solid. What are the chances it can burst? I am in Orillia, Ontario -20 and sometimes -30 is normal.

Are you turning heat off all the way?

What are the chances it can burst? Are you going to Las Vegas? I honestly am having a hard time coming to grips with your question. Let me drink a few more cups of coffee before I respond further.
